Tropical Bloom Floral Polyester Rug - Black

This is the Tropical Bloom rug, a woven indoor and outdoor floor covering printed with a dense tropical floral. Against a charcoal-black ground, coral and blush leaves, apricot blooms, soft green foliage and slim mustard fronds spread edge to edge, so the pattern reads as a busy, joyful garden rather than a scattered motif. It is made from 100% polyester and measures 120 by 170cm, a size that sits comfortably in front of a sofa, under a coffee table, or across a patch of patio or decking.

Because it is built for indoor and outdoor use, this rug earns its keep in the spots where a wool or cotton rug would struggle. Lay it on a conservatory floor, a covered veranda or a decked seating area, and it will hold the same colour and texture it has indoors. The dark ground is forgiving of the dust and grit that outdoor life brings, so passing feet and the odd spilled drink show far less than they would on a pale rug. It also folds and rolls light enough to carry, which makes it as suited to a picnic blanket or a beach afternoon as to a fixed spot at home.

Polyester is what makes all of this work. The fibre does not soak up water the way natural fibres do, so the rug sheds a shower and dries quickly rather than staying damp underfoot. The woven construction gives it a flat, hard-wearing surface that stands up to repeated use. When it needs freshening, it is machine washable, then left to dry before it goes back down. Style it with rattan seating and leafy planters to lean into the tropical theme, or set it against plain furniture and let the pattern do the talking.

Can I use this rug outside as well as indoors?

Yes, it is made for both. The polyester fibre is water resistant and quick drying, so it suits a patio, decked area or conservatory as well as a room inside the house.

How do I clean it?

It is machine washable, which is why the supplier calls it easy to maintain. Wash it when it needs freshening, then let it dry fully before you put it back down.

What size is it and where does that fit?

It measures 120 by 170cm, a mid size that works in front of a two or three seater sofa, under a small dining table, or across a compact patio seating spot.

Will the dark background hide everyday marks?

The charcoal-black ground is more forgiving than a pale rug of the dust, grit and small spills that come with both indoor and outdoor use, so it stays looking fresher between washes.

Is it heavy to move around?

No, it is lightweight and rolls up easily, so you can carry it out for a picnic or the beach and bring it back in without a struggle.
