Description
The Trident is a round bulkhead wall light in solid brass with an antique brass finish and the look of a ship's porthole. A three-arm guard meets at a domed centre boss over clear ribbed glass, and fine ribs fan out from the middle of the glass towards the rim. It is 21cm in diameter with a height of 9cm, a compact size for a doorway or a short stretch of wall. The IP64 rating settles the outdoor question: it is dust-tight and protected from splashing water, so it lives outside in British weather all year round.
It suits a front door, a porch, a garden wall or the side of a boathouse, anywhere a solid outdoor light should look as though it has always been there. The maker says the maritime influence shows in the range's materials, designs and names, and describes these bulkheads as made for outdoor spots that call for an industrial or nautical effect. The maker also says the Trident's guard is much thinner than a standard porthole grille, which lets more of the light spread out through the glass. It sits happily on render, brick or stone, and the maker reckons it will draw comments from motoring enthusiasts.
The maker describes the finish as aged and original-looking, and solid brass darkens and mellows outdoors, so expect the colour to deepen with the seasons rather than stay showroom bright. The cable comes in through a gland at the end or the rear, and a brass blank is included to replace the gland at whichever entry you leave unused. It takes one E27 (ES) lamp of up to 18W, and the lamp is not included, so have one ready for fitting day. At 1.5KG it is a reassuringly solid piece of brass, and as a mains light it should be installed by a qualified electrician.

Frequently Asked
Can the Trident bulkhead go outside all year?
Yes. It is rated IP64, which means it is dust-tight and protected from splashing water, so it can be fixed on an outside wall in British weather all year round.
What lamp does it take, and is one included?
It takes one E27 (ES) lamp with a maximum of 18W. The lamp is not included, so you will need to buy one separately.
How big is the Trident bulkhead?
It is 21cm in diameter and 9cm in height, and it weighs 1.5KG, so it suits a doorway, a porch or a garden wall without dominating it.
Will the antique brass finish change over time?
The maker describes the finish as aged and original-looking. Solid brass naturally darkens and mellows outdoors, so the colour will deepen gently over the years.
Where does the cable enter the light?
The cable enters through a gland at the end or at the rear, and a brass blank is included to replace the gland at the entry you do not use.
Why does the glass have a three-arm guard?
The guard is part of the porthole look, and the maker says it is much thinner than a standard porthole grille, letting more light spread out through the clear ribbed glass.
