Description

The Tournai is a 2950mm outdoor lamp post in a hand-cast aluminium frame finished in textured bronze, with three E14 bulb fittings housed behind clear seedy glass panels. The lantern head sits on a five-section post with turned detailing and a flared base plate, designed for in-ground mounting on driveways, garden paths and courtyard entrances.

Built for permanent outdoor installation, the Tournai carries an IP44 rating against rain and moisture ingress, making it suitable for exposed positions in UK weather. The three-sided lantern head distributes light in multiple directions, giving functional illumination across pathways and planted borders while the seedy glass diffuses the bulb filaments to reduce glare. The 305mm width of the lantern head gives the post presence on wide driveways and larger garden plots without overwhelming smaller cottage gardens.

The hand-cast aluminium construction gives each post slight surface texture variation where the molten metal cooled in the mould, visible under daylight as subtle grain in the bronze finish. The multi-tiered post height of just under 3 metres suits properties with high boundary walls, large front gardens, or period facades where a taller post balances the architectural scale. The E14 fittings accept candle-style bulbs up to 60W each, sold separately, allowing control over colour temperature and brightness depending on whether the post is used for accent, security or ambient lighting.

The Tournai takes three E14 candle bulbs up to 60W each, sold separately. Most installations use 4-7W LED candle bulbs in 2700K warm white for a traditional look, or higher wattage filament-style LEDs where brighter illumination is needed for security.

The post requires in-ground installation with a concrete base and underground cable run from mains supply. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician familiar with outdoor wiring regulations and IP-rated connections. The base plate bolts to a pre-set foundation block.

Is the IP44 rating suitable for exposed positions?

Yes. IP44 protects against water splashing from any direction, making the Tournai suitable for driveways, pathways and garden borders exposed to rain. It is not submersible and should not be installed in areas prone to standing water or flooding.

What's the actual height once installed?

The 2950mm height is measured from ground level to the top of the lantern finial. The light source sits approximately 2700mm above ground, suitable for illuminating pathways and borders without causing glare at eye level for pedestrians or vehicle drivers.
