Description

The To-Be is a slender linear pendant light: a single matt black tube 85cm long and only 2.2cm across, with an integrated LED set into its lower end. Because the LED is built in, there is no bulb to buy or change. It gives 181lm with a CRI of 90, so colours and skin tones look natural beneath it. You choose the colour of the light: 2700K for a warmer glow or 3000K for a slightly crisper white. The LED draws 2.8W or 4W, depending on the version.

It comes with canopy or without canopy. The version with canopy hangs from its own small cylindrical ceiling canopy, 5.5cm across and 13cm tall, and it hangs at a drop of up to 200cm, so it works under a lofty living room ceiling as well as a lower one. The version without canopy is made for multi-pendant canopies, sold separately, so that several To-Be pendants can hang from a single canopy. We like a row of them over a dining table, or a loose group at different heights in a living room. It is rated IP40, so it is for dry rooms indoors only.

On the version with canopy, the tube and canopy share the same matt black finish, an even, quiet colour that sits well against pale walls and dark ones alike. The pendant runs on 230V mains power and is wired in to the mains by a qualified electrician. The 24V DC version is the exception: it needs a remote 24V DC driver, sold separately, which supplies the low voltage power that version runs on. Choose the colour temperature and canopy version that suit your room, and you have a fine line of light that takes up almost no space.
