Description

The Tivu is a butchers block 94cm high and 75cm square, made from reclaimed wood and standing on four castors. The top is a thick plank with the end grain showing along the edge, set proud of the frame below it. Under the top are two drawers, and below them two open shelves. The drawer front is a single board the full width of the block with an aged iron pull across it. An iron rail runs along one side and iron hooks sit on the other.

At 94cm high and 75cm square this is a standing work surface rather than a low table, and because the drawer, the rail and the hooks sit on different faces it can stand out in the middle of a kitchen with every side in use. Castors are included, so it rolls to where the work is and back out of the way again. The two open shelves take boards, bowls and pans, and the rail and hooks keep a towel and a pan within reach. It is for indoor use.

Every piece of wood is reclaimed from ceiling beams, sanded, cut to size and finished with a white wash that pulls several different timbers into one tone while leaving the variation in grain and colour showing. Knots, splits and rough patches are part of the wood, so no two blocks are alike.

Mild soap and water can be used, but not much water. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive materials away, stand wet items on a mat, and mop spills straight away.
