Description

A pair of small glass boxes, each 4.5cm on every side, built from clear glass panels set into a brass frame and soldered along every edge. One face is hinged as a door and shuts on a small pin catch. A brass ring at the top of each box carries a hanging tie cut from recycled sari fabric.

The front opens, so each box holds something as well as hanging: a ring, a pair of earrings or another small ornament, wrapped on the tree rather than under it. At 4.5cm on every side they hang from a thin branch without weighing it down, and the panels are clear, so whatever is inside is visible from any angle. Away from the tree they work as small gift boxes in their own right.

The frame is brass and the panels are glass. Each box is soldered by hand using age-old metal working skills, so the lines of solder sit slightly differently on every one and the frame reads as part of the object rather than as something hidden behind the glass. Tiny Kiko boxes also run in an aged antique finish. Nothing is supplied inside them.
