Description

We stock the Tenity recessed live rail in black as the powered rail that sits inside the ceiling and carries current to your track heads. It is a 1000mm length of matt black aluminium with four copper-toned live contacts running along its face, and it recesses into a plasterboard ceiling so only the narrow black line shows once it is in. Magnetic track heads clip straight onto the live contacts and hold by magnet, which is what sets this apart from the passive recessed track profile that has no power in it.

We reach for it in kitchens, retail spaces, galleries, hallways and living areas where you want directional light without surface-mounted track hardware on show. A single 1000mm run works well above a worktop or island, and several rails can be joined end to end with linking connectors to light a longer stretch. Because the heads are magnetic, you can slide and re-position them along the rail at any point without tools or re-wiring, and each head rotates once it is on so you can aim the light where it is needed.

The rail recesses into a matching plasterboard channel that is cut into the ceiling void and sold separately, with the rail then clipped in behind the plaster line. It suits ceilings of 2.4m or above so the recess sits neatly out of view. The magnetic track heads and any connectors or end caps are sold separately, letting you build the run to the length and layout of your room. Wiring into the mains should be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Frequently Asked

What is the difference between this and the recessed track profile?

This is the live rail, meaning it carries power along four copper contacts so magnetic track heads clip on and light up. The recessed track profile is the passive housing without power in it, so you want this live rail where the fittings need to draw current.

How do the track heads attach?

Compatible magnetic track heads clip directly onto the copper live contacts and hold by magnet, so you can position them anywhere along the 1000mm rail and slide them without tools or re-wiring. The heads are sold separately.

Can I make a longer run?

Yes. Each rail is 1000mm, and you can join several end to end using linking connectors to create a longer run above a worktop, island or hallway. The connectors are sold separately.

How is it installed?

The rail recesses into a matching plasterboard channel that is cut into the ceiling void and sold separately, so it suits ceilings of 2.4m or above. We recommend a qualified electrician for the mains wiring.
