Description

The Tarnwold pendant in bronze patina is a compact domed ceiling light, 195mm in diameter, on a drop that runs from 450mm to 1525mm. The metal shade carries a bronze patina finish, dark and slightly textured, and it channels light down rather than out. A single E27 lamp sits under the dome. It weighs 2.0kg, and the small diameter is deliberate, because this is a pendant designed to be used in multiples or as a quiet single light rather than to fill a ceiling on its own.

We would hang two or three in a row above a kitchen island or a breakfast bar, spaced about 700mm apart, with the bottom of each shade around 750mm above the worktop. Singly, it works over a bedside table, a hall console or a reading chair. The long drop range means it also copes with a stairwell or a room with a tall ceiling, and the dark finish holds its own against exposed brick and deep paint colours.

Construction is metal, with the bronze patina worked over the shade and the ceiling cup, hung from an adjustable suspension. It takes one E27 LED bulb of around 10W and is dimmable with a dimmable bulb and a compatible dimmer. Clean by dusting with a dry, soft cloth and nothing else, as polish will flatten the patina. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms, it is a Class 1 fitting and it needs an earthed supply. A Tarnwold wall light in the same bronze patina takes the range down to wall height.
