Description

This is a generous stoneware bowl, 19.5cm across and 9.5cm tall, that holds 1110ml. The outside is glazed orange with the brush strokes left visible, so the colour runs in soft bands around the curve, and one side carries a painted spray of flowers on slender stems with long leaves. The other side is left plain, which lets you choose which face to turn towards the table or the room. It rises from a small foot and weighs 0.74KG, with the reassuring heft that stoneware gives.

With 1110ml to fill, this is a main-meal bowl rather than a cereal bowl: a big portion of noodles in broth, a leafy salad with all the toppings, or a weekend bowl of porridge piled with fruit.
