Tanda Extra Large Etched Lamp Base - Antique Brass

The Tanda is a metal urn, 57.5cm tall and 37cm across at the shoulder, rising from a narrow foot to a full body and drawing in again to a neck. The whole surface is etched by hand with fine close marks that run round the form, so the brass never reads as a flat sheet and the light breaks up across it rather than sliding over it. The finish is antique brass, darkest in the etched lines. A brass collar caps the neck and carries a black lampholder with a shade ring.

This is a base only: no shade and no bulb. At 57.5cm tall and 37cm across the shoulder it is a console or a large sideboard piece rather than anything that goes beside a bed. It is made from shaped sheet metal rather than cast, which is why it weighs only 2.78kg for its size. It takes one E27 bulb up to 60W, the cord runs 2.5m, the plug is UK and EU, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

The urn is aluminium and iron: sheet metal cut to a pattern, heated and hand shaped into the form, then etched by hand before the antique brass finish goes on. No two carry the same etching. Neither a shade nor a bulb is included.

Does it come with a shade?

No. It is the base only, with a black lampholder and a shade ring on top. Supplied without a shade.

Why is it light for its size?

It is made from shaped sheet metal rather than cast solid, so a base 57.5cm tall and 37cm across weighs 2.78kg.

Is the etching the same on every one?

No. It is done by hand before the finish goes on, so the marks run differently on every base.

How do I clean it?

Unplug it, then wipe it with a soft dry cloth. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off the finish.
