Description

A set of four glass Christmas baubles, each 8cm, shaped like a cut gem rather than a sphere. Each one widens from the cap to a broad shoulder and then draws down again to a point. The glass is a translucent teal flecked through with a fine speckle, and the surface carries the crackle that gives the finish its name. A stamped metal cap and a ring close the top, and a rolled strip of printed sari fabric is knotted through the ring to hang it.

Each bauble measures 8cm in every direction. Hung along a branch with light behind it, the glass goes clear and the speckle stands out as darker flecks. The sari tie is long enough to loop straight over a branch, so no hook is needed. They go on a tree, into a garland or along a table.

The glass is recycled and every bauble is made by hand, so the teal runs deeper in some than in others and the crackle falls differently on each. The ties are cut from repurposed sari offcuts and no two carry the same print, so no two sets are alike. Four come in a set.
