Description

A photo frame measuring 36cm by 29cm, made from glass set into a brass channel soldered round all four edges. The solder is left showing at the corners and along the joins, dark against the brass, so the line of the metal is not one even colour from side to side. Small brass clips grip the glass at the edges, and a catch on one long edge swings aside to open it. The brass border is narrow, so almost the whole face is glass.

The frame is made to work either way up, hung or turned through ninety degrees. At 0.5cm deep it sits almost flat against the wall and throws very little shadow. The glass is what holds the picture, so what goes in is seen edge to edge rather than sitting inside a mount.

The glass is set in brass. Each frame is soldered by hand, which is why the weld marks on the joins differ from one to the next and the brass reads darker in the corners where the solder has run. That variation is left rather than polished out. Taluka is made in two smaller sizes as well as this one.
