Description

A photo frame made from two panes of glass held in a brass edge, 18.5cm tall and 13.5cm wide, taking a picture 5 by 7 inches. The brass is soldered round the glass by hand and the joins carry the marks of it. Small brass clips hold the two panes together at the sides, and a brass leg folds out at the back. The finish is an antique brass.

Because the print sits between two panes of glass rather than behind a mount, the paper shows to its own edge and the glass carries on past it, so what is framed appears to float inside the brass. It hangs on a wall or stands on the fold-out leg, and it works either way up, portrait or landscape. Three of them hang together on one wall, in different sizes and both orientations.

The frame is glass and brass. The metal is soldered around the glass with traditional tools, and the weld marks left along the joins are part of the finish rather than a fault in it. The Taluka Kiko frame is also made for an 8 by 10 inch picture and in an extra large. No picture is included.
