Description

A single rose worked in metal on a stem 46.5cm long. The head is built from layered petals curled in on themselves towards a tight centre, and small pointed leaves sit on short side shoots just below it. The stem is a length of twisted wire that finishes in a small closed loop at the bottom end. The antique brass finish runs brighter across the face of the petals and darker down in the folds where they overlap.

At 46.5cm it stands in a bottle or a narrow-necked vase without anything to hold it up, and several will go together in one clear glass bottle. The head is 11cm across and the stem only 2.5cm deep, so a handful will sit in one neck without pressing against each other. One on its own does as much as a group, and neither wants water nor replacing at the end of a season.

The stem is iron, finished in antique brass. Petals and leaves are cut from sheet by hand and shaped one at a time, so the curl of the petals and the set of the leaves come out differently on every stem. The Svara range also runs to a hyacinth and to a branched flower stem in the same finish.
