Supara Teardrop Glass Baubles - Ochre - Set of 3

Three glass baubles, each one a long teardrop 16cm from the cap to the tip and 6cm across at its widest. The glass is a clear warm amber, thin enough to see straight through, with faint vertical flutes running the length of the body and a denser pool of colour gathered in the rounded base. Each is closed with a dark antiqued metal cap and ring, and hangs from a brown velvet tie.

Sixteen centimetres is long for a bauble, and the widest part of the drop sits below the middle, so it hangs straight down rather than turning on the tie. That wants clear air beneath it: near the tip of a branch, along a bare stem, or on a hook of its own. The glass is transparent, so the colour changes with whatever is behind it, deepest with a light immediately behind and palest against a plain wall.

The glass is recycled, hand shaped by glassblowers from bottles that had a first life carrying soda. Because the form is worked by hand rather than pressed in a mould, the curve of the drop and the depth of the amber differ between the three in a set. The caps and rings are metal, darkened against the amber.

Yes. It is soda bottle glass, collected and melted down before it is shaped by hand.

A dry soft cloth for dust, and careful handling. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off the finish. Indoor use only.
