Description

The Sukha is an open caddy in mango wood, 29cm wide, 18cm deep and 12.5cm to the top of the box, with a tall flat handle arching over it on a screw in each of the two long sides. The outside is marquetry: short angled strips of mango wood in tones from pale straw through honey to grey-brown, laid in a chevron and set in three bands. The inside is divided, with one long open section down one side and a row of smaller square cells along the other.

It is treated to stand up to bathroom conditions, which is where it belongs: on a windowsill, on a shelf or beside a basin, holding brushes, bottles and folded flannels. The divisions keep the tall things upright and stop the small things sliding about, and the handle means the whole caddy moves at once. Drying it off now and then will make it last longer.

It is mango wood throughout, the box, the dividers and the handle alike. The marquetry is cut and laid by hand, so the run of tone across the chevron differs from one caddy to the next. The Sukha range also runs to a storage caddy and a bath bridge.
