Description

The Sparrowmere double hoop XL pendant in silver leaf suspends a 700mm mink fabric shade between two metal hoops, on a drop that adjusts from 650mm to 2040mm. Five 10W E27 LED lamps give it the output a shade this wide needs. It is dimmable, weighs 5.1kg and is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms. Silver leaf sits cooler than gold and closer to pewter than to chrome, which lets the mink fabric do the warming instead of the metal, and keeps the fitting quieter overhead in a pale room.

Scale is the deciding factor with this one. A 700mm shade wants a long dining table, an open plan living space, a tall hallway or a stairwell where the generous drop can be used properly. In a small room it will dominate; in the right room it settles the ceiling and gives the space a centre. Five lamps behind fabric produce warm, even ambient light with no visible hot spot, and on a dimmer it moves from full brightness for a meal to something much lower afterwards without needing a second fitting switched on.
