Description

The Sparrowmere large pendant is the middle size in the range, a 600mm diameter teal fabric shade held between two silver leaf hoops with three lamps inside. Overall height adjusts from 600mm to 1980mm, so you can hang it close under a standard ceiling or let it drop over a table, and at 3.7kg it is manageable for most ceiling fixings once the mounting point has been checked. Three E27 lamps rated up to 10W each in LED light it, and the pendant light dims when you fit dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer switch, which makes it as useful for late evenings as for meals.

A 600mm shade sits comfortably over a table around 900mm to 1.2m wide, above a kitchen island, or on its own in a hallway where you want one fitting to carry the room. It also works over a coffee table in an open plan living space, hung high enough to walk under. Because the drum is open top and bottom, light bounces off the ceiling as well as falling on the surface below, so the room stays even rather than patchy. The teal fabric brings colour into rooms with pale walls, and the silver leaf frame ties in with chrome or nickel taps and handles.

The hoops are metal with a silver leaf finish that shifts slightly in the light, and the shade is fabric over a rigid frame. Set the drop at installation, then keep it clean with a dry soft cloth on the metal and a soft brush on the fabric; water and solvent cleaners will mark both. This is a Class 1 fitting and needs an earthed supply, so use a qualified electrician.
