Description

The Solarae is a single-light wall fitting with a polished chrome arm extending 450mm from the wall, terminating in a clear blown glass globe approximately 130mm in diameter. The G4 bulb sits inside the globe, visible through the clear glass, with the blown glass softening and diffusing the light in all directions.

Designed for hallways, bedrooms and living rooms where task or ambient light is needed at mid-wall height, the Solarae provides functional illumination without ceiling mounting. The 450mm projection positions the light source away from the wall plane, casting light sideways and downwards rather than directly onto the wall surface behind it. The chrome backplate is circular and approximately 130mm in diameter, matching the glass globe width to create balanced proportions.

The polished chrome finish provides a reflective surface that pairs with chrome bathroom fittings, polished nickel hardware and contemporary metallic accents across modern and transitional interiors. Each glass globe is hand-blown, so minor variation in the thickness and curvature of the glass occurs between individual pieces. The IP20 rating limits this fitting to dry indoor locations, excluding bathrooms and outdoor use.

The Solarae uses a single G4 bi-pin bulb, sold separately. G4 bulbs are typically low-voltage capsule bulbs available in LED, halogen or xenon variants. Most users fit a 2W-3W G4 LED bulb for warm white ambient light.

Is the Solarae dimmable?

No. The fitting is not rated for dimming, and fitting a dimmable G4 bulb with a wall dimmer may cause flickering or reduce bulb lifespan.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating limits the Solarae to dry indoor locations only. For bathroom use, an IP44-rated fitting is required.

How far does it project from the wall?

The arm extends 450mm from the wall to the centre of the glass globe. When planning placement near doorways or furniture, allow approximately 500mm clearance from the wall to avoid the globe being knocked.
