Description
The Solar is a 310mm anthracite aluminium outdoor wall light with two E27 fittings behind transparent Pyrex glass diffusers, one facing upward and one downward. The dual-output configuration casts light both up the wall surface and down onto the ground below, providing illumination for pathways, patios and building facades while creating a wash of light across the wall itself.
Designed for residential front doors, garden walls, courtyard perimeters and commercial building exteriors, the Solar suits any outdoor installation where upward and downward light spread is needed. The IP54 rating protects against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction, making it suitable for exposed positions in typical UK weather. The 110mm width and 310mm projection mean the fitting sits close to the wall without protruding excessively, while the cylindrical form keeps the visual weight low.
The anthracite powder-coat finish on the aluminium body provides a mid-grey tone that sits between black and silver, pairing cleanly with modern render, brick, stone and timber cladding. The transparent Pyrex glass withstands thermal cycling and impact better than standard glass, reducing the risk of cracking from temperature fluctuations or accidental knocks. Each E27 socket accepts bulbs up to 60W (sold separately), allowing choice of LED, halogen or filament sources depending on the colour temperature and output needed.

Frequently Asked
What IP rating does it carry?
The Solar carries an IP54 rating, meaning it is protected against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction. This makes it suitable for outdoor use in typical UK weather, including rain and wind-driven spray.
What bulbs does it take?
The fitting takes two E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, one for the upward light and one for the downward light. Bulbs are sold separately. Maximum wattage per socket is 60W. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for outdoor ambient lighting.
Is it dimmable?
Yes, the fitting itself is dimmable when paired with dimmable E27 bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch on the circuit. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific bulb and dimmer combination used.
How is it mounted?
The Solar mounts to an external wall via a rear backplate using screws and plugs (supplied). The electrical supply cable feeds through the wall into the back of the fitting. Standard UK outdoor wiring practice applies, and the installation should be completed by a qualified electrician.
