This is a set of four round stoneware plates, each 15.5cm across and 1.5cm tall, with snowflakes scattered over the whole face. The snowflakes vary in size and design, some broad and open, some small and lacy, set on a soft beige ground so the pattern feels festive without looking busy. At 15.5cm across these are side plates rather than dinner plates: the size you reach for with a slice of cake, a mince pie, a piece of toast or a few biscuits. Stoneware is a dense, hard-wearing ceramic, well suited to everyday use as well as special occasions.

This is a Christmas design, and it comes into its own through December: on the table for Christmas morning breakfast, passed round with stollen and coffee, or laid out with sweet treats when friends call in over the festive weeks.
