The Silver Ring is a large LED ring light for a ceiling or a wall: one slim circle, 123cm across and 8cm high, that glows all the way round. It comes in four finishes, White, Black, Brushed Bronze or Gold Leaf, so it can sit quietly on a pale ceiling or stand out against a dark one. The light source is an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It draws 75W and gives 5233 lumens of warm 3000K light, and with a CRI of 90, colours, artwork and skin tones look natural beneath it.

With that output from a single fitting, the Silver Ring makes a natural main light for a big room: an open-plan living and dining space, a double-height hallway, a studio, a gallery, an office or a reception area. On a ceiling it frames the room from above; on a wall it reads as a glowing circle as much as a light, and two or three side by side work well along a long, plain wall. It is rated IP40, so it is for dry rooms indoors only, and we think it suits anyone who wants plenty of warm light from a clean, simple shape.

The Silver Ring fits on a ceiling or on a wall, runs on 230V and is wired in to the mains by an electrician, so plan for a qualified electrician to install it. It is dimmable by DALI or push: it can join a DALI control system alongside your other lighting, or be dimmed from a compatible push switch, so check which you have. Each of the four finishes, White, Black, Brushed Bronze and Gold Leaf, keeps the same clean ring. Before you order, measure the space: at 123cm across, it needs a clear stretch of ceiling or wall a little wider than that to sit comfortably. Our photographs show the white version.
