Description

A set of four short wine glasses, each 11.5cm tall and 7cm across, holding 190ml. The bowl is a deep tulip, rounded at the base and straight up the sides to a plain smooth band at the rim, with fine vertical ribs running below that band and down over the curve. There is no real stem: the bowl sits on a short thick collar that meets a wide, slightly domed foot.

190ml is a modest pour, and at 11.5cm the glass stands barely taller than a tumbler. Because the bowl comes straight down onto the foot with no stem between them, it is held around the bowl rather than by a stem, which makes it a glass for a kitchen table rather than a formal one. The Sigiri range also runs to a tall wine glass and a champagne glass with the same ribbing.

The glass is recycled and mouth blown into a simple mould. The tint is a pale grey green that deepens where the glass is thickest, through the collar and the foot, and small bubbles are caught in the walls. The ribs come out of the mould a little unevenly, so they run straighter on some glasses than on others and no two of the four are identical.
