Description
The Sheldon is an outdoor wall light with a verdigris-finished solid brass frame and a clear glass cylinder shade, housing a single E27 bulb fitting. The 295mm-diameter shade sits beneath a flared metal canopy that extends 390mm from the wall on a curved gooseneck arm, directing light downward and outward from the glass enclosure.
Designed for exterior wall mounting on porches, pathways, garden walls and patio areas, the Sheldon carries an IP44 rating for protection against solid objects over 1mm and splashing water from any direction. The solid brass construction provides weather resistance, while the verdigris finish develops additional patina over time when exposed to the elements. The E27 socket accepts standard LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 60W (sold separately), giving control over light colour and brightness.
The hand-applied verdigris finish gives each fixture a slightly different aged appearance, mimicking the natural oxidation of copper and brass over decades of weathering. The clear glass shade allows full light output from the bulb while protecting it from rain and impact. The gooseneck arm positions the light approximately 300-400mm from the wall, casting illumination over a wider area than flush-mounted lanterns and reducing harsh shadows directly beneath the fitting.
An optional glass guard cage is available separately to add industrial-style protection around the bulb and reduce glare when the light is mounted at eye level. The Sheldon is supplied with mounting hardware for fixing to standard masonry or rendered exterior walls.

Frequently Asked
What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?
IP44 means the fitting is protected against solid objects over 1mm (dust, small debris) and splashing water from any direction. This makes it suitable for covered porches, wall-mounted positions under eaves, and garden walls where the fitting is not directly exposed to driving rain or full submersion.
What bulb should I use?
The Sheldon takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. Most users pair it with a warm-white LED filament bulb (6-10W, 2700K) to complement the verdigris finish and give a traditional appearance when lit. Clear glass bulbs work well as the glass shade is transparent.
Will the verdigris finish change over time?
Yes. The hand-applied verdigris finish mimics aged copper and will develop additional natural patina when exposed to weather. This is a feature of the material, not a defect, and the finish will continue to darken and develop character over several years of outdoor exposure.
How far does the light project from the wall?
The gooseneck arm extends 390mm from the wall to the centre of the glass shade, giving good clearance for mounting above doorways or on corners where projection is needed to cast light over paths or seating areas.
