Description

This is a stoneware dinner plate, hand decorated so that each piece is unique, with a multicoloured pattern laid on in loose brushstrokes. A spiral sits at the centre and opens out into concentric rings; around it run a ring of rounded dabs, a ring of slim leaf-shaped strokes and a band of brushed blocks at the rim. At 27cm across it is a full dinner plate size, with room for a main course and its sides, and at 4cm tall it has a shallow, gently raised edge.

It belongs on the everyday dinner table as much as on a long weekend lunch laid out for friends. The pattern brings colour to a plain wooden table or a simple linen cloth, and because each plate is hand decorated, a stack of them looks like a family of related pieces rather than identical copies. Use it for pasta, roast dinners, salads and curries, or set it in the middle of the table with bread, cheese or a cake.
