This Knightsbridge 6-gang grid faceplate is a 148mm square matt black steel cover plate designed for screwless grid installations. The plate clips onto a separate GDS003F grid frame (sold separately) and conceals all fixing screws, leaving a clean matt black surface with six rectangular apertures for grid modules. The 3.5mm projection from the wall gives a low-profile finish once installed.

The faceplate is part of Knightsbridge's screwless grid system, which allows customised switch and socket combinations within a single wall plate. Six grid apertures accommodate any combination of grid switches, sockets, dimmers, data modules or blanks from the Knightsbridge grid range. This flexibility suits commercial installations where varied control layouts are needed, and residential projects where custom switch configurations make better use of wall space than multiple separate plates.

The matt black finish is applied to premium-grade steel, giving durability and resistance to wear in high-traffic areas. The low-sheen surface minimises fingerprints and sits comfortably against dark walls or as a contrast accent on lighter-toned interiors. The IP20 rating indicates suitability for dry indoor locations only, not bathrooms or outdoor use. A 25-year warranty backs the construction and finish.

What frame does this faceplate require?

This faceplate clips onto a GDS003F grid frame, which is sold separately. The frame is fixed to a back box first, then the grid modules are inserted into the frame, and finally this cover plate clips over the top to hide all fixings.

What grid modules fit into the six apertures?

The faceplate accepts any Knightsbridge grid modules including switches, sockets, dimmers, USB modules, data outlets and blanks. Each aperture takes one single-width grid module, or you can combine double-width modules by removing blanks.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating indicates this faceplate is suitable for dry indoor locations only. For bathroom installations, a higher IP-rated grid system would be needed.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto the grid frame and can be removed without disturbing the wiring or frame. This allows painting around the switch plate and re-clipping the cover once the wall is dry.
