Description
We stock the Scala as a compact ribbed glass LED pendant light in bronze. A two-tier ribbed glass shade hangs from a cylindrical bronze canopy on a matching cable, with an integrated 12W LED inside giving 1300 lumens of warm white (3000K) light through the fluted diffuser in a wide 120 degree spread. The vertical ribbing refracts the light source, so it softens direct glare while keeping a clear downward output for everyday use.
At 148mm across, this is the smaller of the two bronze Scala pendants, which suits it to kitchen islands, dining tables and entrance halls with ceilings of 2.4m or higher. On a single cable run the shade sits below the canopy and positions the light source roughly 700 to 900mm above a worktop or dining surface, depending on your ceiling height, so you get directed light on the work area without the fitting hanging into your eyeline.
The bronze canopy fits standard UK ceiling roses and houses the LED driver, and its warm metallic finish sits well with brass, copper and warm wood tones. The fitting is rated IP20 for dry indoor use only, has a colour rendering of CRI 80 and runs on 220 to 240V mains. The LED is integrated rather than a replaceable bulb, and it is not dimmable on standard circuits.

Frequently Asked
What size is this Scala pendant and how does it differ from the 400mm version?
This is the 148mm bronze Scala, the smaller of the two bronze pendants we stock. It gives a more compact fitting for tighter spaces or for grouping in a run; the 400mm version is a larger single shade for a bigger focal point.
Is it dimmable?
No. The integrated LED is not dimmable on standard circuits, so we would run it on a plain on/off switch rather than a dimmer.
Do I need to buy a bulb?
No. The 12W LED is built in and gives 1300 lumens of warm white 3000K light, so there is no separate bulb to buy or replace.
Where can I use it, and is it suitable for a bathroom?
It is rated IP20 for dry indoor use only, so it is not suitable for a bathroom or any damp area. We would use it over a kitchen island, dining table or in an entrance hall with a ceiling of 2.4m or higher.
