Description

The Sangamo Q555 is a 24-hour electromechanical time switch with a 20A current rating, built around a quartz-driven round pattern dial with on/off operation pins. Four removable pins set the switching times across a 24-hour cycle, allowing two on/off operations per day for controlling heating systems, hot water, lighting circuits and ventilation equipment.

Designed for electrical enclosures, consumer units and DIN rail mounting in residential, commercial and industrial settings, the Q555 provides a manual override button for temporary control outside programmed times without affecting the programmed schedule. The day omit dial allows specific days to be skipped from the schedule, useful for weekends or public holidays when heating or equipment needs to remain off.

The quartz movement maintains accuracy without requiring mains power to drive the clock mechanism, and a 100-hour battery reserve holds the programmed schedule during power cuts. The round pattern dial is marked in 15-minute increments from 1-24 hours, and the transparent cover allows the current time and pin positions to be checked at a glance. The 4-pin configuration suits standard two-zone heating control or single-circuit lighting control with separate on and off times.

Frequently Asked

How many switching operations can be programmed per day?

The Q555 provides four removable pins, allowing up to two on/off operations per 24-hour cycle. Each pin represents either an on or off switching point, so a typical heating schedule would use two pins for morning on/off and two for evening on/off.

What happens during a power cut?

The 100-hour battery reserve maintains the programmed schedule and clock time during mains power interruptions. The quartz movement continues to drive the dial mechanism from the battery until mains power is restored.

How is the day omit dial used?

The day omit dial allows specific days of the week to be excluded from the programmed schedule. This is useful for turning off heating on weekends or public holidays without removing the pins from the dial. The schedule resumes automatically on non-omitted days.

What current rating does the Q555 carry?

The Q555 is rated at 20A, suitable for controlling heating circuits, immersion heaters, lighting banks and ventilation equipment within that load limit. For higher loads, pair the time switch with a suitable contactor rated for the required current.
