Description

The Sangamo Astro Zone 2 is a 3-pin astronomical time switch designed for Zone 2 street and exterior lighting applications, providing one on/off switching operation per 24-hour period with an integrated day omit function. The astronomical clock adjusts switching times automatically based on local sunrise and sunset, removing the need to reprogram for seasonal changes in daylight hours.

Designed for unmetered street lighting columns, amenity lighting and car park installations, the time switch fits standard 3-pin photocell sockets and carries a 20A continuous current rating at 230V AC. The day omit function allows specific days to be skipped without reprogramming the entire schedule, which is useful for holiday lighting or maintenance blackout periods. A 100-hour battery reserve maintains programming and clock accuracy during mains power interruptions.

The dial face shows a 24-hour scale with red markings for on/off programming, and the brass contacts visible through the clear polycarbonate housing give visual confirmation of switching positions. The unit measures 104mm wide by 83mm deep by 134mm high, fitting most standard Zone 2 column installations without additional mounting hardware. The clear housing allows visual inspection of the mechanism without opening the enclosure.

Frequently Asked

What is an astronomical time switch?

An astronomical time switch automatically adjusts on/off times based on calculated sunrise and sunset times for your location. Unlike a standard timer that switches at fixed clock times year-round, the Astro Zone 2 adjusts for seasonal daylight changes without reprogramming.

What does Zone 2 mean?

Zone 2 refers to unmetered street lighting circuits operated by local authorities or DNOs. Zone 2 time switches fit standard 3-pin photocell sockets found in street lighting columns and car park installations.

How does the day omit function work?

The day omit function allows you to skip programmed switching operations on specific days without deleting the entire schedule. This is useful for turning off decorative lighting on certain weekdays or for maintenance blackout periods.

How long does the battery reserve last?

The 100-hour battery reserve maintains programming and clock accuracy during mains power failures. After power is restored, the clock continues from the correct time without needing to be reset.
