Sakiti Small Boucle Lampshade - Off White

The Sakiti is a tapered drum in cotton boucle, off white, lined pale inside. Boucle is woven from a looped yarn, so the surface is covered in small raised nubs rather than lying flat, and the light catches the tops of them and leaves the spaces between in shadow. Close to, the effect is closer to a knitted blanket than to a smooth shade. This is the small: 14.5cm tall and 20cm across.

At 20cm across it fits a small base, a bedside lamp or a squat body. The reason to choose boucle over a plain cotton is what happens when the lamp is on: the loops let light through between them while the nubs themselves stay solid, so the shade becomes a field of very small bright and dark points rather than an even glow. At close range on a bedside table that is what you look at. It fits a table lamp, a floor lamp or a ceiling pendant. It weighs 0.204kg.

The boucle is stitched by hand around an iron frame, so the loops fall differently on every shade and the seam sits in its own place. The Sakiti range also holds a medium size. No bulb, base or fitting is included.
