Description
The Rutland is a 108cm floor hurricane built around a single antique gold iron stem that rises from a 23cm circular marble base, passing through a central ring detail before supporting a hammered clear glass cylinder at the top. The glass cylinder sits on a shallow iron dish with a matt black decorative border, designed to hold a single pillar candle up to approximately 18-20cm diameter.
Designed for entrance halls, fireplace sides, and corner positions in living rooms or dining rooms, the Rutland provides ambient candlelight at eye level when seated or standing. The 108cm height suits rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, placing the candle flame high enough to be visible across furniture without dominating sightlines. The marble base provides ballast against accidental knocks, with the natural grain and tonal variation in the stone differing between individual pieces.
The hammered texture on the clear glass cylinder breaks up direct sightlines to the candle flame, softening the light and creating diffused reflection patterns on nearby walls when lit. The antique gold finish on the iron stem and ring shows a warmer, slightly oxidised tone compared to polished brass, with darker lowlights in recessed areas that give the metalwork depth. The combined weight of marble, iron and glass gives the piece a 9.26kg presence that feels stable on hard floors and short-pile rugs.
The Rutland family is available in four heights (39cm, 45cm, 92cm, 108cm), allowing grouped arrangements at different elevations or individual placement where a single statement piece is needed.

Frequently Asked
What size candle does it hold?
The glass cylinder and iron dish accommodate a pillar candle up to approximately 18-20cm diameter. Standard pillar candles in 10-15cm diameters sit comfortably within the glass surround. The candle sits on the shallow iron dish at the base of the glass cylinder.
Is the marble base the same on every piece?
No. The marble is a natural material with grain, veining and tonal variation that differs between pieces. Some bases show darker brown tones, others lighter beige-brown, depending on which section of stone the base was cut from.
Can the glass cylinder be removed for cleaning?
Yes. The glass cylinder lifts off the iron dish for cleaning and candle replacement. The hammered texture on the glass traps soot and wax residue more readily than smooth glass, so periodic removal and cleaning with warm soapy water is recommended.
Is it stable on rugs?
The 23cm circular marble base and 9.26kg total weight provide good stability on bare floors and short-to-medium pile rugs. On thick or shag rugs the base may benefit from sitting on a protective mat to prevent the rug fibres compressing unevenly under the weight.
