Description

A pillar candle 18cm tall and 10cm across in a muted olive green, with a single wick. The surface is heavily textured: the wax is pitted and pocked all over, with runs and pulls down the sides and a torn, uneven edge round the top, so the candle looks worn before it is lit. The colour is a flat dusty olive that goes paler where the surface breaks open and darker in the hollows.

At 18cm by 10cm this is the larger of the two pillar sizes. It suits a sideboard, a mantelpiece or the middle of a laid table, and because the wax may drip it needs a non porous, heat resistant holder under it. The holder is not included.

The wax is a soy blend with paraffin, hand poured into moulds in small batches by local makers, which is where the pitted surface comes from. The Rustic Soy Blend range runs to two pillar sizes and a mini pillar, and on to dinner candles, across white, charcoal, dark cherry, olive green, rust and sage green.

Frequently Asked

How big is the candle?

18cm tall and 10cm across.

Is a holder included?

No. The candle is sold on its own.

How long should it burn at a time?

No more than four hours, and trim the wick to 0.6cm before lighting it.

Does it drip?

It may. Stand it on a non porous, heat resistant surface or in a holder that will catch molten wax.

Is there a smaller size?

Yes. The Rustic Soy Blend pillar also comes smaller, and there is a mini pillar as well.

What should I watch for while it burns?

Burn it within sight and never leave it unattended. Do not move it while it is lit or until the wax has hardened. Keep it away from anything that will catch, and keep matches and soot out of the wax.
