Description

The Rui is a slim LED wall light that works as an adjustable reading light. A narrow cylindrical tube sits on a short arm from a round wall base, and it pivots so you can angle the beam just where you need it. The light comes from an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to fit or replace. It draws 2.7W and gives 250 lumens of warm white light at 3000K, with a colour rendering index of 90 or more, so pages, fabrics and skin tones look true. The beam spreads at 45°, a focused pool rather than a wash across the room. In matt white, it is 20cm tall and 6cm wide, and stands 9.5cm out from the wall.

As a reading light it comes into its own at the bedside, fixed to the wall beside the bed so the bedside table stays free for a book and a glass of water. It works just as well beside an armchair or sofa, in a study corner, or anywhere you want a directed light for reading, a crossword or close work. Compact and plain in outline, it suits modern rooms and sits quietly against pale walls. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The structure is iron and the base is aluminium, both in the same matt white finish, which keeps the look clean and calm. It runs on a 220-240V mains supply and is for a qualified electrician to install. It is switched on and off rather than dimmed, so there is no dimmer to choose or match, and it carries a 5 year guarantee. As a styling tip, fit one either side of a bed at the same height and angle each tube towards its own pillow, so one reader can carry on without lighting the other side.
