Description

The Rui is a slim LED wall light in gold, made as an adjustable reading light. A narrow cylindrical tube sits on a short arm from a round wall base, and the tube pivots on that arm so you can angle the beam exactly where you need it. Light comes from an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to fit or change. It draws 2.7W and gives 250 lumens of warm white light at 3000K, with a colour rendering index of 90 or above, so print reads clearly and colours look true. The beam angle is 45°, a focused pool of light rather than a wide wash. The fitting is 20cm tall and 6cm wide, and it stands 9.5cm out from the wall.

As a reading light, it earns its place beside a bed, leaving the bedside table clear. It works just as well beside a favourite armchair or at the end of a sofa in a living room, or above a desk in a study or home office. Its small size suits a tight spot, such as a narrow bedside or an alcove. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. Control is a plain on and off switch, and it is not dimmable, so no dimmer is needed.

The Rui has an iron structure on an aluminium base, finished in gold for a warm, modern finish. It runs on 220-240V mains, so a qualified electrician should install it, and it carries a 5 year guarantee. For styling, the gold sits well against a deep painted wall or a warm wood headboard, and a pair hung at the same height either side of a bed gives a neat, balanced look. Angle each tube down towards the pillow for reading, then turn it away once the book is closed.
