Description
The Royal chandelier is a spiral cluster of nine alabaster globes, each hung on its own gold textile cable from a 35cm brass disc at the ceiling. The globes are 10cm across and fall one after another in a descending spiral, so the fitting reads as one sculpted column of light rather than nine separate pendants. Alabaster is translucent, so each veined sphere glows softly when lit, its warm markings showing through the stone. The finish is gold, carried from the disc down every cable, and the cable length runs from 1.5m to 3m.
We think it belongs where there is height to fill: down a stairwell, over a staircase, or in a double-height hallway or landing, where the long spiral can be followed from more than one level. It also suits a dining room or living room with a generous ceiling, hung over a table or in an open corner where nothing crowds it. The style is modern, and the warm, veined alabaster softens clean lines, pale walls and plain plaster. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only, and the 10cm globes stay compact enough that the spiral feels light rather than heavy.
It is built from a brass base and disc, with alabaster shades and textile cables. Each globe has its own G9 lamp holder, nine in all, and we recommend G9 LED lamps no longer than 60mm, the most the fitting takes. It runs on 220-240V mains, so it is for a qualified electrician to install, and it carries a 3 year guarantee. For styling, hang the lowest globe a little above head height at the foot of a stairwell and let the spiral rise from there, with a plain wall behind it so the veining reads clearly.
