Description

The Royal wall light sets a globe of alabaster against a round brass disc. The shade is a 10cm sphere of natural stone, sitting towards the top of a 23cm disc in a Matt Polished Brass finish, and the light from inside the globe comes through the stone softly. It takes one G9 lamp, and we recommend a G9 LED; choose one no longer than 60mm so it fits within the shade. From the wall to the front of the globe, the fitting projects 11.5cm.

Rated IP20, it is for dry rooms: a living room, bedroom, dining room, hallway or landing. At 11.5cm deep it keeps close to the wall, which suits a narrow hallway or a landing where a deeper fitting would be in the way. A pair works well either side of a bed or a fireplace, and a run of them along a corridor gives an even rhythm of light. Its modern lines sit happily in a contemporary room, and the brass disc brings warmth to a plain wall without crowding it.

The base and disc are brass, and the shade is alabaster, a natural stone with a soft, cloudy grain, so the markings vary from one globe to the next. It runs on 220-240V mains and is for a qualified electrician to install. It carries a 3 year guarantee. For styling, we like it on a wall painted a muted green or a deep blue, where the brass and the white stone stand out clearly, or on a warm white wall for a quieter, lighter feel.
