Description

A set of four hanging stars, each one cut from iron and finished in antique brass. The five points are pitched up towards a raised centre rather than lying flat, so each face takes the light at a different angle and the surface breaks into bright and darker patches. A small ring at the top point carries a doubled cotton sari tie, knotted at the top.

At 6.5cm tall and 1cm deep these are slim enough to sit flat against a branch rather than swinging clear of it. Four will dress a wreath, a length of foliage along a mantelpiece or a small tabletop tree, and on a full-sized tree they read as a scatter among larger decorations rather than filling a branch on their own. The tie is long enough to loop over a branch and pull back through itself, so no hook is needed.

The stars are iron under an antique brass finish, hand-cut so the outline and the pitch of the points vary from one to the next. Each tie is cut from a different length of reclaimed sari fabric, so no two are alike. Roshani star baubles are also sold in a set of two.
