The Rookhurst medium pendant is a round array of clear glass rods in a gold frame, 510mm across, with an overall height that adjusts from 450mm to 1630mm. It is the size to reach for when the full width of a grand fitting would be too much for the room but a plain shade would be too little. A single lampholder sits behind the rods and lights them from within, and the pendant is dimmable with dimmable bulbs and a matched dimmer switch. It weighs 2.7kg, is a Class 2 fitting so needs no earth, and is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

At 510mm this ceiling light suits a smaller dining table, a hallway of ordinary width, a bedroom, or a landing where a wider fitting would feel crowded. Gold warms the sparkle that glass rods give, which makes it a friendlier choice than chrome in a room with wood, cream or clay tones. We would hang it low enough to be seen properly, then use a dimmer to soften the glass in the evening. Since one lamp does the work, keep other light sources in the room for everyday tasks.

The frame and ceiling plate are metal in a gold finish, and the rods are clear glass set close together around the central lamp so each one carries a little of the light.
