Description
The Rookhurst grand pendant is the widest round fitting in the range, an 890mm array of clear glass rods held in a gold frame, with an overall height adjusting from 450mm to 1650mm. A single lampholder lights the whole array from the centre, and the rods do the rest, breaking the light into fine vertical lines the way cut crystal does. The pendant is dimmable when paired with dimmable bulbs and a matched dimmer switch. It weighs 4.9kg, so the fixing should be sound, and the IP20 rating keeps it to dry indoor spaces.
A fitting this wide wants a room that can hold it: a large dining table, a generous hallway, a double height landing, or the top of a stairwell where it can be seen from more than one floor. We would centre it over a table rather than a walkway and hang it where the glass can be looked into. Gold keeps the sparkle warm rather than icy, which helps in rooms with wood floors, panelling or deeper wall colours. With a dimmer on the circuit the same fitting reads bright at dinner and low afterwards.
The frame and ceiling plate are metal in a gold finish, and the clear glass rods are set close together so the light travels from the centre out through every one. Dust between the rods with a soft dry brush or duster rather than a cloth, then lift marks with a barely damp cloth and dry at once, keeping sprays and creams off the gold. It is a Class 2 fitting, so no earth is needed, though 4.9kg deserves a proper ceiling fixing. The Rookhurst range also runs to a medium round pendant, a linear pendant and a chrome finish.

Frequently Asked
How wide is it?
890mm across, with an overall height adjustable from 450mm to 1650mm.
What is it made from?
Clear glass rods in a metal frame and ceiling plate finished in gold.
How heavy is it?
4.9kg, so it wants a sound ceiling fixing rather than a light anchor.
How many bulbs does it use?
One central lampholder lights the whole array. The supplied guide gives the lamp type and maximum wattage.
Can I dim it?
Yes, with dimmable bulbs and a dimmer switch rated to work with them.
How do I clean between the rods?
A soft dry brush or duster, followed by a barely damp cloth on any marks, dried straight away.
