Description

The Knightsbridge RJ45 network outlet provides a single CAT5e Ethernet port behind a brushed chrome rounded edge faceplate. The port includes an integrated shutter that closes when no cable is inserted, protecting the internal contacts from dust and debris. IDC (Insulation Displacement Connection) terminals on the rear accept standard twisted-pair network cable, with a termination tool included in the box.

Designed for residential and light commercial installations where wired network points are needed for smart TVs, desktop computers, network switches, or any device requiring stable Ethernet connectivity. The outlet fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and complies with BS 5733 certification for fixed wiring accessories. What cable type does this outlet accept?

The outlet accepts standard CAT5e twisted-pair network cable (4-pair, 8-conductor). The IDC terminals on the rear strip the cable insulation automatically when the conductors are pressed into the terminal slots using the included tool. CAT6 cable can also be terminated into CAT5e sockets, though the connection will be limited to CAT5e speeds.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The faceplate projects 7.5mm from the wall surface once fitted, giving a total depth of approximately 32-33mm from the face of the plasterboard to the rear of the back box.

Is the port shuttered?

Yes. The RJ45 port includes an integrated shutter mechanism that closes when no Ethernet cable is plugged in, protecting the internal contacts from dust and accidental damage.

What certification does it carry?
