Description

Rita is a concrete pendant light with a quietly industrial edge. A slim cylinder of porous concrete forms the body, its surface pitted with small open pores, and beneath it sits a copper head with a flat matt black disc where the two meet. It stands 41cm tall and hangs on a 1.5m textile cable from an 8cm canopy at the ceiling. It has one GU10 lamp holder, so the warmth and brightness of its light depend on the GU10 lamp fitted.

Rated IP20, it belongs in dry rooms: a dining room, a living room, a hallway or a bedroom. The narrow cylinder takes up very little visual space, so two or three hung in a row over a dining table read as a neat line rather than a crowd of shades. On its own, it works beside a bed in place of a table lamp, leaving the bedside clear for books and a glass of water. Its modern, industrial look suits exposed brick, dark timber and plain plaster walls, and it is as much at home in a loft apartment as in a terraced house with a pared back scheme.
