Description

The Rio is a flush ceiling light with a deep dome shade in matt black, built on an iron structure. A small round canopy, 8cm across, carries the shade, so the whole fitting reads as one clean, softly rounded bell shape. It stands 17cm tall and 16cm across, a compact size that keeps the ceiling looking tidy without crowding it. The shade is open at its base, so its single GX53 lamp casts light downward into the room, where you need it most.

Because it fixes flush to the ceiling, with no stem, the Rio suits rooms where headroom matters: a landing, a hallway, a box room or a bedroom with a lower ceiling. Its modern, Scandinavian lines sit just as comfortably in a living room, a study or a dining room, and two or three spaced along a corridor give a neat, even rhythm. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. Control is on-off switched, so it runs from an ordinary light switch, with no dimmer to choose.

The structure is iron, finished in matt black, a low-sheen surface that lets the curve of the dome read cleanly against the ceiling. It runs on 220-240V mains, so it is a fitting for a qualified electrician to install. It carries a 3 year guarantee. For styling, we like the black dome against a white or pale ceiling, where its outline shows clearly, and alongside light oak, linen and soft white walls for a relaxed Scandinavian room.
