Description

The Rio floor lamp is a slim, upright light in a warm yellow. A rounded dome shade sits at the top of a straight, narrow stem, which rises from a flat disc base. It stands 120cm tall, with a dome shade 16cm across and 15cm tall and a 20cm base, so it asks for very little floor. The structure is iron, finished in yellow from the shade down to the base, and it runs from a 2m plastic cable. It takes two G9 lamps, the small capsule cap.

At 120cm it is a modest height, which suits it beside a sofa, an armchair or a bed, or in the corner of a living room, bedroom or study where a taller lamp would crowd the space. The narrow stem and small base let it slip into gaps a bulkier lamp would not, by a sideboard, next to a reading chair or at the end of a desk. Its look is modern with a Scandinavian lean: simple shapes, one clear colour and nothing fussy. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. As it is switched rather than dimmable, there is no dimmer to choose or fit.

The frame is iron, and the yellow runs through stem, base and shade alike, so the lamp reads as one clean line from floor to dome. The 2m cable gives some freedom in where it stands in relation to a socket. It carries a 3 year guarantee.
