The Rio 2 Light Floor Lamp is a slim, simple floor lamp in matt white: a rounded dome-shaped shade sits on top of a fine straight stem, which rises from a flat round disc base. It stands 120cm tall, a modest height that keeps the light close to where you sit rather than up near the ceiling. The shade is 16cm across and 15cm tall, and the base is 20cm across, so it needs very little floor space. It takes two G9 lamps, so you choose them, and with them the brightness and warmth of light that suits your room.

At 120cm it makes a good reading light beside an armchair or at the end of a sofa, and it works just as well in a bedroom next to a chair, in a study beside the desk or in a quiet corner of a hallway. Its clean, modern lines and plain matt white finish suit a Scandinavian or pared-back scheme: the white blends into a pale room and gives a soft contrast against darker walls. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. The 2m cable gives you room to place it away from the socket, so you can set it where the light is wanted rather than tight against the wall.

The structure is iron, finished in matt white, and the cable is plastic. It runs on 220-240V mains and is switched simply on and off; it does not dim, so for a softer glow choose a lower output G9 lamp. It carries a 3 year guarantee.
