Description

The Rio floor lamp is a compact, slender light with a rounded dome shade on a fine straight stem and a flat round base, all in matt black. It stands 120cm tall. The shade is 16cm across and 15cm tall, and the base is 20cm across, so it takes up very little floor. Inside the dome sit two G9 lamp holders, which makes this a 2 light floor lamp. The dome is open underneath, so its light falls downwards. It is switched on and off rather than dimmed, so there is no dimmer to choose or match.

At 120cm it suits a place beside an armchair, at the end of a sofa or next to a sideboard, where a taller lamp would tower over the furniture. The small base tucks into a corner or a narrow gap, and the 2m cable gives some freedom over where it stands. Its plain, rounded outline sits easily in modern and Scandinavian rooms, from a living room or bedroom to a study or a reading corner. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. It runs on 220 to 240V, the mains voltage in UK homes.

The structure is iron, finished in matt black, and the cable is plastic. The matt finish keeps the sheen low, so the lamp reads as a clean dark line against a pale wall.
