Description

This Rigoberta wall light is a modern design built on one simple idea: a straight matt black iron tube with an opal glass globe at each end. A round plate at the centre of the tube carries it on the wall, so the light reads as a neat horizontal line with a softly glowing sphere at either side. The opal glass diffuses the light, giving an even, gentle glow rather than a hard beam. It measures 49cm wide and stands 12cm out from the wall, and each globe is 10cm across. The lamp cap is G9, and G9 LED is the recommended lamp type.

Rated IP20, it is for dry rooms only, and it suits them well. Its long, low shape works over a bed in place of a pair of bedside lights, along a hallway or landing, or above a sideboard or console table in a living room or dining room. The 12cm projection keeps it close to the wall, which helps in narrower corridors and on landings where a deeper fitting would be in the way. It sits comfortably above a mirror in a dressing area, too, and in commercial spaces such as cafés, reception areas and hotel corridors, where a clean, modern line is wanted.

The structure is iron in a matt black finish, paired with opal glass globes that soften the light. It runs on 220-240V mains, so it is for a qualified electrician to install, and it carries a 3 year guarantee. For styling, the matt black reads crisply against white, pale grey or warm plaster walls and picks up black picture frames, door handles or a dark-framed mirror nearby. Centre it over a sideboard or bed so the globes frame the piece evenly, and leave a little clear wall at either end so its long line can breathe.
