Description

The Riga is a two-light glass globe pendant: a slender curved iron arm in sand yellow, hung from the ceiling, with an opal white glass globe at each end. The globes soften the light into an even glow, and the fitting has two G9 lamp holders, for which we recommend G9 LED lamps. It comes in two sizes, 50cm and 80cm. The 50cm size is 50cm wide, with two 10cm glass globes and an 8cm canopy; the 80cm size is 80cm wide, with the same two 10cm globes and 8cm canopy. Both hang on 1.5m of textile cable.

With a globe at each end of the arc, the light sits across the full width of the fitting rather than gathering in one point, which makes the Riga a good choice over a dining table, a sideboard or a desk. The 80cm size spans a longer table or a wider living room, while the 50cm size suits a bedroom, a study or a smaller dining nook. The sand yellow arm and white globes belong in modern and mid-century modern rooms, adding a warm touch of colour without filling the ceiling. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The structure is iron, finished in sand yellow, the two shades are glass and the cable is textile, so the fitting looks as considered close up as it does from across the room. It runs on 220-240V and is a mains fitting for a qualified electrician to install; it carries a 3 year guarantee. For styling, centre the arc over the table so a globe falls near each end, and let the yellow pick up oak, cane, linen or terracotta in the room around it.
