Description

A rectangular cushion cover, 60cm by 40cm, with a front of thick brown velvet and a back of natural linen. The seam is set in from the edge on all four sides, leaving a flat flange of fabric standing proud of the pad like a narrow border. The velvet is deep and dense and takes the light differently as the pile lies one way or the other, so the same cover reads darker from one side of a room and warmer from the other.

At 60 by 40cm this is the long cushion rather than the square one, so it sits at the front of a sofa or in the small of a back rather than filling out a corner. On a pale or neutral sofa the brown velvet is the one dark colour it brings. The cover takes a 60 by 40cm inner, which is not included.

The front is velvet and the back is natural linen. The pile means the brown is never flat: laid one way it reads dark and deep, brushed the other it lifts and pales, and the marks of a hand or a shoulder show and then go again. The Renwal is also made as a 50cm square in the same brown.
