Description

The René pendant is a modern linear light in matt black: two slim horizontal LED bars hung between two upright rods from a round ceiling canopy 14cm across. It comes in two sizes, 120cm and 160cm. The 120cm size carries two 12W integrated LEDs giving 1000 lumens each, and the 160cm size carries two 16W integrated LEDs giving 1300 lumens each. Because the LEDs are integrated, there is no bulb to buy or change. The light is a warm white at 3000K, with a colour rendering index of 90 or above, so food, wood and fabrics keep their true colours. A wide 120° beam spreads it well along the length of the fitting.

We see it hung low over a long dining table, where the two bars run with the table and light it from end to end. The 160cm size suits a larger table or a long run of seating. It works just as well over a reception desk, a home office desk or a sideboard in a hallway, anywhere a long, even light is wanted. Its modern lines sit happily in a contemporary flat or an open-plan living space, and the matt black reads as a fine drawn line against a pale ceiling. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The base is iron and the structure aluminium, finished in matt black, with a 2 metre textile cable. It runs on 220-240V mains and is for a qualified electrician to install. Control is simple on and off from a switch. It is not dimmable, so there is no dimmer to match to it. It carries a 5 year guarantee. For styling, hang it centred on the table or desk with the bars running along its length, and keep the furniture beneath it simple, so the clean black lines stay the focus of the room.
