Description

The Reiko is a dome ceiling light that brings a clear, warm red to the room. Its shade is aluminium, set on a round base of natural ash wood, and the two meet in a neat line that keeps the whole fitting simple and modern. It fixes flush to the ceiling with no stem, so the red dome sits close overhead and sends its light down through the open rim. It is 16cm tall and 21cm across, with an ash wood base 11.5cm across. It takes one E27 lamp, which leaves you free to choose a bulb to suit the room.

Because it sits so close to the ceiling, it suits rooms where headroom matters: a landing, a hallway, a box room or a bedroom under a lower ceiling. Its Scandinavian lines and the pairing of red with pale timber also work well in a child's room, a home office or a dining corner that needs a little colour overhead. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only, and it is a switched fitting, turned on and off from your wall switch. It runs on 220-240V mains, and as a mains fitting it is for a qualified electrician to install.

The shade is aluminium finished in red, and the base is natural ash wood, so the grain of the timber gives the fitting a softer side against the clean curve of the dome. It carries a 3 year guarantee. For styling, we like it where other natural wood already appears, such as an oak floor, a pine shelf or a beech chair, and where a red cushion, rug or print can pick up the colour of the shade. We would pair it with a warm white bulb, which sits comfortably with both the red and the ash.
